Drawing is taking a line for a walk, try a Zentangle

One of my wise art teachers told me that drawing is taking a line for a walk.  So many adults and kids I work with say they ‘can’t draw’.  Drawing is like any other skill…..it is something you have to practice to get good at.  Zentangles are a good place to start.  Zentangles use patterns to create beautiful images.  The repetitive patterns support relaxation, focus and inspiration.

Materials-any kind of paper, pencil, markers or pencil crayons.  You can also use water colour paints or spray inks for a background.

Steps-Take a marker or pencil and keep moving it on the page until you have a doodle (don’t lift your hand off until you have filled the page).  Fill in the spaces with patterns or words.  It can be as simple as that to create something beautiful.

You can also do a background with water colour paints or spray inks, let it dry and then draw with a sharpie on top.  Any object can be drawn, divided into lines and then patterns drawn in each section.  For the butterfly I used spray inks with stencils and the heart I used water colour paints for the background.

market place flyer 2017

The Cougar Canyon Market Place is this weekend on Saturday November 25th from 11-4.  I will have my new prints, calendars, cards and pendants and the girls will have some have their famous cake pops.  It is a great market for Christmas gifts.  Let me know if you can make it.

art class picture

My art classes starting in January are filling up fast.   Don’t miss out on the fun!

I really believe that everyone has the ability to be creative.  I want to encourage adults and children to have fun and be inspired.  This set of art classes will focus on composition and the building blocks of successful art.  We will have fun exploring concepts used in art such as repetition, rule of thirds, vanishing line and contrast.   We will be exploring different art materials such as water colours, acrylics, tempura paints, oil pastels, soft pastels and we will even be learning how to make our own stamps. Each student will receive a presentation book to keep all their beautiful paintings in and all supplies are included.

In order to keep the classes smaller,  I will run the same class at two different times on Wednesday evenings, so choose the time that works best for you.  All registration is going through Eventbrite so you can use visa to pay for it. I can’t wait to create with you.
