Story time

I dropped off some art kits to the kids in art club this week. I love seeing how excited they are when I come to their door.  They run off to go get art they have created to show me.  They are excited to talk about art and creativity.

When I first started teaching art over zoom during the pandemic I had no idea how rewarding it would be and how much the kids would like it.  They show up to the zoom art classes full of art ideas and excitement.

They have gained so much confidence with drawing and painting and it warms my heart to see their creations.  I love seeing all ages of kids in a family sitting down to create together… and parents, friends and grandparents  joining in as well.

I started art club during the pandemic because parents had reached out to me asking if I could teach art over zoom.  Their kids were needing connection.   I wasn’t able to work since I injured my neck.  Art club became my therapy and healing.  It made me feel like I could still help others in a small way.

Art club is not just about drawing and painting… it is encouraging ideas and creativity… it is learning about the topics we are painting… it is about creating together as a family… it is giving kids the confidence to draw and paint their own ideas.  Art is such a great way to build confidence, self esteem and connection.  The start of school is busy and so it is even more important to take some time to sit and be creative.  Kids need that time to draw and have fun.

The doors to art club are closing soon.  Click the LINK to join the fun!
