Hello lovely people, I hope you are doing well. I have a few events coming up to share with you. I really appreciate your support in coming out to my events and reading my newsletter. It is not always easy to choose the creative road but it is so rewarding to do something I love.
Cougar Canyon Elementary School Market Place
I am excited to be participating in the Cougar Canyon Elementary school market place again this year on Saturday Nov. 25th from 11-4pm. It is a great event that will feature a collection of local artisans and small businesses offering their wares to holiday shoppers. I will have my calendars, art prints, cards, pendants and ornaments that are great unique Christmas gifts. I hope to see you there.
Anonymous Art Show at 100 Braid Street Studios
I have been accepted into the Anonymous Art Show at the 100 Braid Street Studios in New Westminster! There will be a gala opening on Oct. 25th from 7-10pm. Tickets cost $150 and you get a $100 gift certificate to go towards the purchase of a painting, a glass of wine and appetizers. There will also be a free public opening on Friday Oct. 27th from 7-10pm. This a fundraiser for The Camp Kerry Society, an organization that provides bereavement programs and supports to individuals and families impacted by grief, loss, and terminal illness.
Art Classes
The art classes that I run out of my house are going really well. We have been learning about the 7 elements of art (Colour, line, shape, form, value, space, texture). One of the students told me that they were talking about complimentary colours (colours that are opposite on the colour wheel) in school and she was the only one that knew what they were. It makes me happy when kids are excited about art. It also makes me sad when only one student in a grade 6 class knows what complimentary colours are. I believe that colour is part of so many aspects of our lives….from the colours we choose in our houses….the clothes we wear….how colour affects our mood….etc. I just wish there was more funding in the schools for art! The next art classes will be in January on Wednesday nights. Registration will begin the last week of October so stay tuned for more details.
